Lightbulb Does anyone make a stacked Vol / Blend pot?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've done a lot of looking around, and I can't find one. I know a stacked Vol/Vol is going to give a similar result, but I'd rather have a Vol/ Blend if it exists.

So, does it?

(This will be used in a passive, two pickup bass if that helps)

Never saw that combo since the depth would probably be an issue.

Actually I'm pretty sure one of the boutique bass makers use one but I don't recall which. I'm sure some TB'rs do know though.

I looked for one in the past, never found.
That's a lot of pegs to cram onto a single pot.

Exactly, that's pretty much why I recall it. It takes a pretty hard hit for my cortex to recall much of anything. Of course I could be wrong too.

MEC makes a stacked vol/blend pot and it even has a DPDT push/pull switch. The model number is 89552.

You can get them at least from Banzai Musical Products:
http://banzaieffects.com/MEC-M-89552...-pr-13695.html

I happen to have an extra one (new, never installed), so if you're interested, PM me.

I knew someone would fish me out of the drink if I treaded long enough.

Although seems the one I recalled wasn't that deep and basically looked like a typical stacked pot but the blend was just one pot with like a two sets of terminals. This I don't feel so confident about but I was pretty sure someone mentioned vol/blend in general.

It's takes something pretty unusual for me to remember an item I personally have no interest in - and they don't show often.

I don't know about the components used, but Kubicki's have a stacked vol/blend, so they do exist.

I'll be putting an Audere 3ZB in my Dingwall soon, and it's going to have a stacked Vol/Bal knob.

One potential problem: the stacked pot has to be either both detents or no detents. IOW, you can't have a volume knob with no detent stacked over a balance with a detent. I'm just getting both with detents.

The volume section of the MEC 89552 has no detent, but the blend control is detented.

Yep, that's what I have on my Warwick Dolphin Didn't know it was a rare combo, as it's a very practical combo.

That's different because it's an active blend, so the blend pot is not a dual ganged version.

The detent is in the can part of the pot. The wiper has a little nub on it. It shouldn't matter if one has it and the other doesn't, but getting the parts is another issue.

I would go with no detents since the center of a blend is rarely both pickups equal. It's usually a little off center.

Hi,

You can get this kind of pot from Noll Electronic in Germany.

It may even be the same part as the MEC...not sure.

It's a 500K volume and ganged dual 220K blend,
on two concentric shafts. IIRC, it also has a DPDT switch.

It's a tall pot, though, so check your cavity.

Cheers,
Martin

Last I contacted someone regarding a stacked vol-tone, they suggested a regular stacked 250k audio taper. Maybe that in conjunction with a proper capacitor would work?

As mentioned it's a feature on some warwicks, you can buy the pot through the online warwick shop.

http://shop.warwick.de/product_info....--balance.html

They also sell knobs there too, but you may find cheaper elsewhere.
