Does a EMG 35DC Pickup fit to a Sterling ray 34 silverburst by musicman bass?
I was wondering a couple of years ago i bought myself a EMG 35DC pickup to ''upgrade'' an old bass of mine.
now a year ago i bought myself a new bass, A Sterling ray, i absolute love the bass, but i was wondering how the EMG pickup would sound to the Sterling ray bass. and then i was doubting to change the pickup in the sterling ray, but then i thought if it is even possible to place a 35DC in to the hole of a MM humbucker?
my old bass had a much larger pickup in it. and the 35DC was a lot smaller so i had a small gap around the pickup i solved that problem with a handmade Pickup ring from a old Guitar shop which make everything they have by there own.
i hope everyone has a better view about the situation.
any words? tips? tops?
the 35 series case is different, but they do make a MM pickup i believe. that one should work .
Or look at EMG page for measures.
It will fit. Would look horrendous, but it will fit. The DC35 is the same width as the main body of an MM pickup so it will fit in the hole, but there will be space on either side and the holes from the MM pickup mounting ears will of course be empty. You could always have a custom pickguard made though.
Don't forget, you'll need to replace the preamp as well.
