Does This Wiring Look Right to You?

1978 Musicmaster, just purchased.

I've never done any pickup wiring before...does this look right?

Thanks!

It buzzes like crazy when I plug it in--is there a way I can ground it better?

It's not a ground problem. It buzzes like crazy, because it's one single coil pickup.

EDIT: Wait. Is there a bridge ground? I don't see a bridge ground anywhere.

Nope, nothing goes to the bridge

Ground the bridge.
I'm really new at this--how do I do that? I know one wire ends up touching the bridge, but where does it connect to the electronics in the picture I posted earlier?

A potentiometer case.

A Fender Musicmaster Bass, built 1978?

The Musicmaster was the cheapest Fender bass - an "instrument for beginners" ...

Maybe it has no wire to the bridge to save a drilling - and costs ...
The pickup with 6 pole pieces says it all ...

The wiring itself is okay.

Has the cavity been shielded (later)?
The Tone pot is "twisted to the right" and the right contact with the white HOZ cable might touch a (later made) shielding.

The pickup will surely hum ...
Don't wear a mobile while playing ...
Also the angle to the amplifier makes a difference in noise ...
