dragonfire precision pickups

want to know opinions on dragonfire precision pickups. have seen a few good reviews, but respect this rooms opinion. blacktop jazz bass, needs 2 pickups. should i get different resistance pickups to play at equal volume?

If that's your budget range I would try GFS http://guitarfetish.com/GFS-PB-Pro-P...Tone_p_333.htm I've bought several and it's a great sound for a $32 pickup

1. If my bass was worth upgrading, I would not choose dragonfire pickups. I'd save for a good set from a well respected source.

2. Selecting 2 different inductance measurements will be a crapshoot at best whether it will get you identical output from each position.

3. Theres more to pickups than inductance. Theres magnet type and strength, shape of the coil... etc...

4. You are not likely to find 2 identical model brand pickups offered in different inductances unless you have them custom wound.

I think some dragonfire pickups are active; from what I've seen on ebay. Double check but I think that is the case. You would need to find room for the battery and make sure you use the 25k pots the supply

FWIW- I read this

Quote:
Ken here, Owner of TNT Guitars and Dragonfire Pickups. I am sorry, but I did not know you where on my payroll. Only my employees would have ANY clue where my pickups are made. And I can tell you that they are not made in China by factories that produce sub $50 guitars. When people like yourself speak of things that they do not know, you just sound like an idiot. Really, I am not saying you are an idiot, but statements like that with no backing of proof or knowledge makes you sound like an idiot.

For the record, like GFS, our pickups are made in the same factory in Korea. And of this I do have proof, with the same magnets, same baseplates, same wire, same everything.

The difference between Dragonfire and GFS is the custom winds. Jay does his styles, and we do ours. GFS are great pickups, and the Dragonfires are on the same level. So please respect yourself and others enough to not speak of things you know nothing about. And if you really care, you should actually try our pickups. The ones that blakem used for his video is our CHEAPEST set. blakem has since ordered our Blues Kat prewired Pro Series guard. Wait for that video to see our higher end pickups.

Compare apples to apples here.

Thank you,
Ken Aguiar

Some people really hate the idea that inexpensive pups can sound good. It really messes with the snob mentality!
