eastwood eub 1 mod

First thread so sorry if this is a dumb question but im pretty new to modding my equipment as far as pickups go.So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for this bass (EUB-1), im going for something that wont take a whole bunch of time to install and basically just upgrading the quality of the sound.

As far as I know, there are no direct replacement pickups for that bass. It uses an odd sized pickup.

That doesn't mean you can't replace the pickup, but it will require either a new pickguard, or some kind of trim ring.

Someone asked me about replacing this pickup recently, it apparently you can open the back of the pickup, and remove it from the cover. That would imply that it can be rewound or replaced with something else that will fit in there.

So you can have a new pickup make to fit in there. From what people have told me it's not the best sounding pickup.

Eyes? It looks like a pickup. What's it supposed to look like?

The complaint I get is that it's noisy for a humbucker.

Keep in mind it's probably a $2 pickup from China.

I meant that the bass itself looks very cool to some people and that those people tend to ignore the sound. That happens with a lot of unusual looking instruments. I run mine wide open and use my amp's eq to get the tone I'm looking for.

Sad, but true to some degree.

I'm the guy that specializes in restoring the original Ampeg Scroll Basses, and I build high-end versions of them. Many of the people who contact me looking for an Ampeg really want one because it looks cool. Often, they have never played one, or heard one up close, or really know what they sound like on classic recordings.

The years have gone by. The original Ampegs are now 45-47 years old, and mostly in the hands of collectors. Many have outlived their original owners. My customers who want them for the sound are mostly older guys.
