Arrow EMG 35P4 on Dean Edge 4 - Spring Noise

The active EMG pickups on my dean edge make a strange spring popping sound when I rest my thumb on them and move it. Usually isn't a big deal when playing live since it's covered up by everything else, but when recording it became problematic. Any techs out there that have seen/heard this, and what could I do to solve this issue? Thanks!

If it's actually noise from the spring holding the pickup up, either remove the spring and put some foam under the pickup to do the same job, or, use foam AND the spring, which is something I have to do on my basses in order to get the pickup height I need.
