Talking EMG Active 4-string Pickup tone is awesome!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
The bass in this video has a standard 4 string active EMG pickup(not sure what model it is) and the tone is damn KICKING!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4-5OtBx6u8

My main question is if I use an Active EMG P pickup in an SX P Bass, can I achieve the same tone, or will the fact that it's an SX affect it??

my vote goes for the legendary pirate bass

*an sx with emg P pickups would sound very similar to another bass with emg P pickups. but then all the amps and lame face paint may actually affect the tone as well.

Just get yourself a Tech 21 VT Bass Character Pedal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_be9GSlt_eQ
They are roughly $149 new and can be found used fairly easily here or on the bay.
A bit cheaper than having an EMG P and BTC preamp installed.
Then down the road you can upgrade your bass and not kiss your EMG Set goodbye or worry about pulling them out and putting all the old stuff back in.
