Anyone with experience from this

http://www.emginc.com/displayproduct...32&section=OEM

I have a passive Peavey C5 and been thinking of active stuff, though I like the mics but sometimes it bugs me that they have so low output, would this unit color the sound or is it supposed to be transparent, then, is it?

And with that one, can it be wired so I can use the pups in passive mode even if battery is drained?

Thanks.

I have a active booster in my G&L L2500. The general concensus on the G&L board is that the active boost is not that great of a feature. You would most likely be better of getting a higher output set of pickups if you are worried with coloration, or if not, a full preamp should do the bill, but IMHO the active boosters aren't that great and not too usable live.
