EMG BQC passive mod?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, I've been playing with the idea of upgrading my basses preamp for a while. origonaly i was set on an audere zmode with 4 bands and passive tone to boot but importing one from the US to the UK would cost alot and be taxed alot too so in looking for a 3 band EQ with variable mid control I stumbled across the EMG BQC control. The controls and frequencies seem fine to me (I especially like the treble frequency options!) Since I plan on using the system with passive jazz pickups I'd really like to be able to run them in full passive mode as an option for more traditional tones and a safety net in case of battery failure.

<a href="http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/adbarker/?action=view&current=emgeqmod.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/adbarker/emgeqmod.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

this link shows what i hope would work as a simple switch mod to change the signal path via the EQ or passive tone control.

my questions are: 1. would this work?
2. Could this be altered to turn the battery off when in passive mode?

thanks

Looks to me like you've got it nailed. Be careful the first few times you engage it, just in case there's a loud pop when throwing the switch.
