EMG BTC Control Question

In this wiring diagram..

http://www.emginc.com/downloads/wiri...s/BTseries.pdf

In the diagram for the 2 vol's, 1 BTC, is that a Stereo Jack pictured or some sort of other Jack? I only ask cause the Black wire from the BTC is going to what looks like a lug on the jack, which doesn't really look like a lug, if that makes any sense!

Nope, it's not stereo - it's a standard output. The black wire to the jack completes the circuit.

But don't mono jacks only have 2 lugs? What's the black wire soldered to?

A stereo jack actually has 3 lugs- 1 ground and 2 signal (tip and sleeve). Basically, the black wire should go to the ground lug, the hot wire should go to the lug connected to the connection that makes contact with the tip of your instrument cable, and the battery wire should go to the sleeve lug. This will activate the battery, and thus, the active EQ when your bass is plugged in, and turns the EQ and battery of when unplugged. Saves battery life that way.

I just reread the post... it should be a stereo jack in order to operate the EQ. I'm pretty sure a bass cannot have an actie EQ without using a stereo jack, but I could be wrong.

It 'grounds' the circuit, connecting ring to sleeve and completing the current path for the power supply (battery) so that when you plug a mono jack in, power runs to the circuit, and when you unplug, the battery is not connected (no 'circuit') and no battery drain.
