Can anyone give me the skinny on this pre.http://www.bestbassgear.com/emg-btc-control.htm

I like how small and compact it is and really dig the price. Does anyone have any experience with it that can tell me how it sounds and how noisy it is?

Thanks
Paul

That looks like a control, not a preamp.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is the difference? It has 12db bass/treble boost/cut and is powered by a 9 volt battery.

It is very much a preamp and a good one, with a clean sound and musical EQ.

I guess it is a full blown preamp then. I have its bigger brother in my Brubaker, I love it.

I had one of these installed in my Charvel nearly 10 years ago. So far, it has been serving me quite well. The controls are smooth, the frequencies for boost/cut are chosen well, and I haven't had a noise problem.

(The part on the left, ignore the arrow)

The volume pot on the right is just a normal sized pot. I like mine just fine.
