EMG BTC system into a Fender Jazz-routing needed?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anybody know if the EMG BTC system can be installed into a Fender Jazz Bass without routing? I'm using EMG J's and the control cavity is pretty crowded because of the battery. I don't wanna cut out anything from the bass' body so if I need to do it to install the preamp, I'll just stick to the active tone control.

The one longer circuit board would prove problematic I think. Cant you also just add the emg btc control instead? And just wire it to your existing emg vol and blend or vol contols? Replaceing the tone contol your now useing with the btc control? Its single small circuit board should fit ok.

If you just use the BTC control you will be OK.
The BTC system wont leave room for the battery.
Just replace the tone control with this http://www.emginc.com/products/index/104/146/4

Thanks, guys! So the only difference between the controla dn system is that the BTC system has a blend pot instead of 2 volumes, right? I will look into the BTC control.

right, the "control" and the "system" are the same preamp, the "system" just comes with a pre-wired low-impedance volume/blend harness (that will only work with active pickups).

you'll get better results running all this at 18V, so you'll need to do a bit of routing anyway to fit the second battery.
