EMG-BTC System in a jazz? + dilemma!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, my blue jazz currently has an east j retro and emg active J pups, but its a bit too loud and squashes my compressor too much, so i was wondering about taking out the east and fitting an EMG-BTC System to a standard jazz bell plate, would this work??

This will then leave me the quandry of which preamp in which bass...
I have a ksd all stock which i love the sound of, but ill then have both an east jretro and an audere jz4 lying around and a brand new fender jb75100us jazz bass to drop one or the other into?, and then theres the ksd, what to do with the pre from that?, would that work with the EMG's without overdriving, then i could swap em all around!!!??

As it goes i love the KSD so im tempted to not mess with it, and the JZ4 and KSD pre are both side jacks so once fitted, are fitted for good!, the east is a straight drop in.
Any thoughts?

The BTC is designed to work with EMG actives; no problems there. Are you asking if the prewired harness will fit a Jazz control plate? If so, yes, it will.

Here's the secret of making a BTC work for any particular bass: Don't be afraid to set the treble control to different frequencies until you get the right setting that sounds best on that particular bass. Check each setting with both cut and boost, too. The frequency chosen makes a lot of difference in the overall sound of the EMG pickups/BTC system.
