There are tones of threads about this. You just have to search for them.

There is a guy who recently did an EMG shoot-out and compared various EMG pickups in different positions. I believe the DC and TW (being a CS in one setting) were included in there. You should search for that thread.

I have never tried both pickups in the same bass with the same preamp, so it's hard to say which I like more. I think the DC is much hotter, but warmer, than the CS.

DCs are brighter and a lot more aggressive than the CSs. CSs have a warmer humbucker growl tone, while the DCs have that high-mid accentuated humbucker growl. I like them both, but for rock and metal I would definitely go with the DCs. The DCs are much harsher in the top end, but the CSs have a politer tone that can suit pretty much everything.

Thanks dude. I've heard of a lot of guys going a dc at the bridge and a cs at the neck. Any thoughts ?

That one comparison mentioned earlier had a pretty amazing double EMG 40P setup going I think. Had an amazing tone.

It would depend somewhat on pickup placement, but I would tend to go the other way.

Output is comparable between the CS and DC. The difference is in the smoother, warmer sound of the CS.

The DC sounds somewhat like a Music Man pickup in the "sweet spot" position, and makes a very bold-sounding neck pickup. But the closer to the bridge it gets, the more irritating that upper mid resonance gets.

If it's within an inch of the bridge? Fuggedaboutit, at least to my ears.
