EMG doesn't fit... what can I do?

I got a new EMG 35 HZ (passive 4-string) for $35 (impulse buy) but it looks like it's too small to fit in my Epi Explorer bass which has Thunderbird-style pickups. How can I install it, if at all?

it's too small, meaning that there would be a gap around it? who cares about that, as long as it picks up all four strings?
