EMG drop in upgrade? 40DCX 40PX-5

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an EMG B415SM bass with EMG 40DC and 40P5 pickups - I would like to try the new X series pickups.

Are the 40DCX and 40PX5 pickups a drop-in upgrade?

The pictures of the pickups on EMG's website make it seem like I could just swap out the pickups - there are 3 pins on the 40DC and 40DCX, and 3 pins on the 40PX-5 and 40P5.

You should be able to unplug the old pickups and plug in the new ones.
