Everything about this is too short to search for.

Electric Guitar Pickups & Accessories - EMG Pickups | HB

Is this basically a P pickup in a guitar humbucker shell? I've read EMGs are supposed to sound the same regardless of the bass, how would these sound? Any clips? I'm trying to plan out a 30" bass and thought of sticking one of these in the MM sweet spot, and I'd be running flats. My first choice was a Darkstar but unless Fred starts making them again, I need an alternative.

How close would this sound to a shorty P bass?

These are exactly an EMG P in a different shell. They were used in Steinbergers prominently.

Way back when, I replaced the humbuckers in my Carvin ('80 or '81 LB50) with those EMG's.

They are very "smooth" sounding. It was one of those instances where it definitely made the bass sound "different", but not necessarily "better".

They do have the staggered blades, like a P pickup. I haven't owned any other EMG's, so can't give any direct comparisons.

These pickups were redesigned at one point, the originals for Steinberger packed in lots of treble per what I've read. Now they are just supposed to be P's, but that doesn't say much with EMGs.

If anyone has any clips of them in a Steinberger or whatever they'll fit into, that would be awesome.

If they don't work out, the Rio Grande Pitbull is the same size so I can swap them. I'd honestly go with the Pitbull right up front because its supposed to be a suped-up '51 P but I don't like buying products from companies with no customer service, and products with no reviews.
