EMG HZ pre-wired...

Sign in to disble this ad
Why is the EMG 35-40-45 HZ prewired like this? http://www.emginc.com/content/wiring...Z-35-40-45.pdf

The positive wires are connected together and the negative wire from coil 1 is grounded, while the negative wire from coil 2 becomes the output. I want to install series/parallel switches for each of the pickups, but I don't know if I should wire the series configuration like in the EMG schematic or the traditional way (Coil1 positive -> Coil2 negative). Also, what's the difference between the two?

Follow the emg instructions. Just as theres diff between wiring dimarzio and seymour duncan guitar humbuckers, and color coding isnt the same for all brands either. Dimarzio and seymour for example dont use same colors. The emgs are very nice imo and their wireing diagrams are correct for them in my experience with useing their guitar pups currently and bass pups in the past some.
