EMG HZ replacement

My backup, schecter damian 4, has not been given enough attention lately because the output doesn't compare to my main, GL L2K Tribute. I love the look, feel and playability of the schecter and figure rather than replace the bass, replacing the pickups may do the trick and be more cost effective.

It sounded fine in a standard tuning but is now tuned CGCF and this has caused a decrease in overall volume, (I'm guessing this is probably due to loser strings and higher action). It is used to play in a band that is primarily metal with a heavy punk and hardcore influence. I don't use any effects, just a touch of tube drive from my Yorkville head.

I was thinking of upgrading to an active EMG, but am open to suggestions.

Just to clarify, I am not planning on doing the work myself. I am looking for some advice because I get the feeling that whatever shop I take it to will just try to sell me something they have in stock rather than the right pickup for my needs.
