Yes, the pickups are passive.

People either hate or love this pickups. There is no inbetween. They were to sterile for me. I upgraded to active EMG's for my bass.

I actually ask because I'm gonna replace the ones on my bass and I kinda needed to know if they were active or passive... They work for me, but they're definitely not the sound I'm looking for. They just don't have a strong sound, and their tonal capabilities suck...

the HZ's are passive but usually used w/ an active pre-amp on most basses I have ever came across....

I've hated them on every bass but my Schecter. I've hated them on Schecters exactly like mine. I think I really lucked out. :shrugs:
