EMG and internal trimpot (Spector content)

Ho there!
I just bought a Spector (SSD) NS5CR with active EMGs in it.
The PUs are two EMG 40DC and a EMG BTS preamp.
The sound is great but the output is really really hot!
When I use my VT Bass it's like the input gets distorted even on clean settings and is a lot hotter than my Warwick SS2.

Is there a way to put an internal trimpot between the preamp and the output jack inside the bass?
If so, where can I find such a pot?
Maybe it's easier the use a pedal like an EQ with level control or like a MXR Micro Amp to lower the gain but I rather not need to bring an extra pedal with the bass all the time...
Or would a Spector TonePump (with trimpot) sound like the EMG BTS?

That's a an issue with the VT Bass. Those pickups and preamp are not that hot. I used them for years and never had issues.

Are you boosting he bass and treble all the way? If you are, try setting them flat, and then just boost a little.

The VT bass is basically an overdrive pedal. That's what it's made to do: break up. I'd suggest trying your bass without the pedal for a cleaner tone.

You can also put a 10k resistor between the input jack and the circuit board on the VT bass to act like a pad like you have on amps that have active and passive inputs. They didn't build enough headroom into the pedal. Did you try it with the drive all the way down?

Maybe it's the VT Bass. But even when I play with a more overdriven sound (which I mostly do) the sound sounds a bit crushed (in a bad way), even if I turn down the drive...
And it sounds actually better when i turn down on the bass. But in a live setting I can't have the volume like halfway if I accidently touch it and then need to find the "sweetspot" again...
If I get the gain down it will also match my other basses much more...

I have the Bass control in the mid dent (flat - 50%) and gaining some Treble to around 75%.

If I put a restitor in the pedal, it will me too ow for my other basses...

You can add a trim pot to the bass to lower the output. It would be like a second volume pot.

What kind can I use for such a thing? I'm not into electronics at all, so I need someone to do it, but I would like to know anyway Just to calm my curiousity (controlling needs)
