Love it. Very clean, bright, aggressive.

I don't own this bass anymore but It's still the best sounding bass I've ever owned. EMG 40 J's.

Dont EMG's have an inbuilt preamp? If your talking about active EQ's, make sure you change the volume pots to 25K Ohm. Im not a fan of active EQ as I had the EMG BTS and wasn't impressed.

Hi Juraj,
nice to see you here around!
I don't know if you remember me, but I contacted you something like three years ago about your CD "Bass Friends". I got it. It is a very good sounding album!

First and formost, be aware of a lot of "not so good" knowledgable informations, around here.... nontheless there are some very good fellas with great experience!

To answer your question, I had a Sadowsky NYC Standard 4 (many years ago, I don't remember precisely) with EMG. I liked it alot. Nice clean, dry low ends and crisp high ends. Expecially the Sadowsky preamp warmths up the super clean EMG (some calls EMG sterile, I don't agree)...
As always, everyone has his own different perception of what it is a "good" sound.

Try a search and you'll find out more.

Take care

I once owned a Spector NS2-J with EMG J's and an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp. Like Nino said: Very clean, bright, and aggressive.

Thank you very much! Those recording are kinda old!

If I remember right, in that clip I'm using an Alder/Rosewood Warmoth with Nordstrand NJ4SE and a Sadowsky pre.... but I may be wrong

Alex Al has a very heavy right hand technique, I saw him ripping off several strings from his bass just only in one set

If you like his sound you should probably try the EMG... you can always sell them, right?
