EMG Jazz Set vs. Fender SCN (Samarian Cobalt Noiseless) pickups

Hey TB'ers,

Which Pickups will give me a good single coil jazz tone. I know that EMG's are Active, and that the SCN are really a stacked Humbucker in a J pickup housing. So neither are actual single coil jazz pickups. But which in your opinion are better overall and better for the jazz bass tone. I will be using them with passive tone controls.

How are they different from the regular active EMGs. How do they compare to the Fender SCN pickups?

EMG J's are also stacked humbuckers. The J has an alnico blade and the JV has exposed alnico poles.

The SCN uses rare earth magnets.

The JV's have a vintage tone, the regular type of EMG's are more modern,IMO,i find the JV's to be more open sounding, but retain the Fender sound with great clarity and punch.

Oh my mistake... the J uses ceramic magnets. The JV is alnico.
