EMG JX for 5 String bass + Getting a great sound on the C string

Hey!!

I have a ESP B-155 that has been modded a lot.
I've got an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp in it and it's been tuned E-C.

I've always been convinced that the horrible stock pickups are the reason I don't get as good a sound as I should be getting. That's why, I'm thinking of changing the stock pickups to EMG JX jazz pickups

I also want the bass to sound fat while still retaining a certain amount of richness on the C string. Hence, I'm going to angle them like the way you see it on the Warwick Thumb bass so that the treble coil is closer to the neck and the bass coil is closer to the bridge.

And I'm going to run this system of EMG pickups and Aguilar preamp at 18 volts.

What do you guys think ??

Cheers!!
