EMG-MM HZ??

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm interested in building a Warmoth with a P bass pickup route and a Stingray pickup route and would prefer to keep everything passive. The only passive pickup I can find for the Stingray spot is the EMG-MM HZ. I was just wondering if anyone has used these and how close to the active versions of the replacement Stingray pickups sound. ANY info would be great thanks!!

Nooo! They suck.

Just my opinion.

I reckon they're a bit sterile... they lack that certain something... whatever it is, I hate mine.

Try the Delano replacement maybe... Seymour Duncan also do a good passive MM pup.

they just dont have alot of punch and power behind them.. the sound rather thin, but in other areas they are not horrible.

they are not your best option though...

Lots of choices... and I'm sure there's more...

I'd add me to the list but I'm not making MM pickups just yet... very soon.

I've been installing Duncan/Basslines MM pickups for the last 15 years or so. Bartolini has been making them at least that long, probably longer.

The rest of the companies aren't as old, but they've been around at the very least five years....

I think this bass is from about 1995 or so.... It's a Squire with Bassline pickups and preamp.

I like the ceramic Bassline MM's better than the Alnico.. more snap and growl.
