Talking emg p and j pick ups

i play kinda metal/techno stuff and i wanted sum emgs i kinda want something like fender p and j pickups but with a bit more like growl has any body got them installed in there bass or played a bass with them on are they whta im looking for or
can you give me some advice

FWIW:

check reviews for either the P or J's, there's plenty of both. There are a wide range of Fender J's. To me EMG's in general are more refined and controlled sounding than Fenders. They are also significantly more to my liking with a preamp installed as opposed to the passive harness.
