EMG pickup for SR406

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys..
I recently decided to upgrade my stock Ibanez SR406. I've already decided to upgrade it with a Seymour Duncan STC-3P preamp, and a EMG 45HZ. My questions are: what other pickup should i stick to, and should i put the 45hz in the bridge position? Also, is Schaller bridges worth bying? I find them a little expensive, but since i'm going to the studio soon with my band, i would like to have it fully upgraded, i'm a little tired of my stock SR406..

Sorry for my english, it's not my native language

I personally dislike my 35DC in the bridge. Very growly, but not warm at all, unlike a jazz bass's bridge pickup.

The EMG HZ pickups are passive...all other EMGs are active, containing an internal preamp which cannot be bypassed. The pickups are not designed to be used together in one bass. If you were to get a 45DC, you would have to replace both the stock bridge pickup AND the EMG HZ you currently have in the neck position so that both were active pickups.

If you don't want to upgrade BOTH pickups, stick with the 45HZ in the bridge position. Otherwise, plan to get a pair of active EMG pickups for your bass. I like the 45DC in the bridge and a 45P in the neck for an aggressive tone with a smoother low end, or two 45DCs for maximum growl.
