EMG Pickup upgrade help...

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Washburn XB600 that's a couple years old. The tone is inconsistent and dopey. It has two soap bar pickups that I want to replace with EMG, I went to the EMG site, but I can't seem to find the EMG equivalent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also can regular guitar repair shops do Pup replacement?

FWIW:

the Bart site has Washburn equivalents but I think they're older Washburns. They have dimensions at any rate and a number of their pups are expressed as EMG equivalents. Under dimensions I think. Bartolini.net

Pic of the bass? 4 or 5 string? Width of the current pups? IIRC, the EMG soapbars main difference is the width. There are some internal construction differences, but the first thing to determine is the size.

And yes, most guitar repair shops should be able to do the swap.
