EMG Pickups and 18 volts

Sign in to disble this ad
Good news, I'm sure some of you know this already, But, If you have a bass with EMG's you can convert most of them to 18 volts.

I did on my Schector Elite 5 and I see that some of you with G&L Basses did the same.

It makes a big difference, more head room and a crisper sound. All that's really involved is adding a 9 volt inline (in series) with the existing 9 volt.

Like so:

Always refer to original manufactures diagrams before you do any modding!

Legal mumbo jumbo below READ!

I cannot be held responsible for any of you who try this and cause any damage to your equipment or yourselves. ALWAYS check with the manufactures sites first!!!!!

What exactly is this topic about?
Isn't that the way 18v basses are always wired, with two 9v batteries in series?
You are just restating common sense kind of.

A lot of Basses come wired 9 volt and have the capability of being 18 volt. I'm just letting you fine folk know this.

It switches the high frequency levels:

On > On = 2.5kHz
Off > On = 3.5kHz
On > Off = 5.0kHz
Off > Off = 8.0kHz
