EMG Pickups + Aguilar OBP_3 Wiring help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey !

Just got new EMG pickups. A LJ in the bridge and a P5X in the neck. The P is reversed. I have the wiring diagrams from the aguilar website for the preamp, but I don't know how to wire the EMG's to this preamp.

Any help ?

Thanks

How do you have the pickups wired- dual volume or blend and volume?

Either way, it looks as though the pickup output needs to go into the blue wire on the pre.

Volume, Blend, Mid Pot with a push pull for selecting between 400Hz and 800Hz, a stacked Bass/Treble Knob and a switch to turn the preamp on/off.

Wire it just like any other pickups would be wired to the preamp, but connect the red wires from the EMGs to the battery's positive terminal.

Alright... I'm assuming what you're describing is what came with the Aguilar, correct? If so, you won't be able to use the volume and blend pots, unless they are 25K ohm, which is what EMG reccomends for their pickups. If you bought the pickups new, they should have come with a volume and tone pot each. This is what you'll want to use. I've attached a modified Aguilar diagram showing a dual volume setup. If you want to do a volume/blend setup, you'll need a 25K ohm blend pot, like the one here (11th item down). Simply follow the diagram on the Aguilar site that shows the volume/blend setup, using the correct value pots, and you should be set!
