EMG Pickups in SX Pirate for a good sweet/gritty rock tone??

Sign in to disble this ad
You know how some bassists and pickups can get that low bass sound with some high end sparkle/dirt/grit to it, if oyu know what I mean. I mean like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0G8yh0a-jc

This is actually the best example I could find. I know nobody likes him, but the TONE is what I want. I guess the reason I always use him as an example is because I dig that tone. Something is just very.........RAWKKKKK.......about it

Anywho, could I get that tone with a P/J combo EMG's in my SX Pirate which has an ash body, or will the ash body even matter??

Amp/cab/settings have FAR more to do with it than the body wood. The ash body will have likely zero factor in that.

Not trying to pee in your cheerios.

Maybe look into a OD pedal? I enjoy my polish love for slight grit, and waiting on my Battering Ram.
