ESP/LTD bass + EMG pickups question

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm planning on buying a new bass this week for around $400 and I've decided the esp ltd d-4 is the best band for your buck for the type of music I'm playing (thrash metal). Since this bass is made out of a good body wood and has neck-thru construction , I thought that I would maybe upgrade the parts over time. So the question is, are the generic humbuckers esp puts in their basses the same dimensions as EMG humbuckers? I will eventually want to put some active EMGs in this bass and want to know if it will need to be routed or if the EMGs should drop straight into it. They look about the same shape-wise and I thought since ESP and EMG are such close companies that ESP maybe made their generic pickups to specs of EMGs.

EMG lists the dimensions of their pickups on their website. When you get the bass, take some measurements & check out:

Look under product data sheet and it will all be spelled out for you:

(just an example)
