ESP LTD D-5 Buzz problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi!

I recently purchased an ESP LTD D-5 5 string bass. This one: ESP LTD D-5 NATURAL SATIN - Thomann Cyberstore Espaņol

Well the problem is that the tone know is opened, the bass buzzes like hell, as it had a grounding problem, you know, you touch the bridge/strings and the noise disappears.

The thing is that often, when I've been playing for a long time, the buzz is gone, as if it needed "warming up", or discharging static, or something like that. Anyway, some times, just when you think the noise is gone, you play again and it comes back.

I suspect the tone knob might be badly wired or soldered, I've taken a picture, maybe you could tell better.

On the left is the tone knob from the cavity, on the right the jack plug. If you want any other pictures of some concrete part of the cavity or such, ask away :-)

Anyway, I've got to try it with a new battery and a better cable (I've tried with two different, but cheap, cables and result is more or less the same).

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can provide.

Cheers!
