I have an ETS bridge with piezo saddles along with a Richter preamp which is the recommended one by ETS. I bought it for one project and couldn't use it in the end - and I have it as a bit of a leftover.
I am thinking of using the bridge and saddles on a bass project - and I wondered if I can get away with just a volume knob on the piezos. I just want to mix the piezos into the sound of the mags so that I can get a bit of that "closeness".
Do you think that it would really pay off to have a tone control on the piezos as well? I like them bright on my Roscoes which have RMC piezos - in fact I rarely touch the tone control on the piezos on those basses - so I thought I would simply hard wire it in the bright position - tone all the way up, then blend it in with the volume pot as I see fit. Should I reconsider?
I am really into simplicity when it comes to knobs and electronics.
Thanks in advance, to anyone who might have a thought. I don't have any experience yet with the sound of the ETS piezos for comparison sake to the RMC, and hope that someone here may.
