Extra spare cables

Sign in to disble this ad
Made some spare cables over the last few days.-Tired of paying so much. Both Un-Balanced instrument and Balanced patch cables,- A few observations. Used Mogami balanced and ubalanced cables and Neutrix connectors. The XLR connectors for the balanced cables were a piece of cake-no problem. The screw on nut for the TS and TRS neutrix connectors were a PITA to get started-not sure if I was doing this correct but they were tight as hell to get started. I believe there is only one way to do this for these connectors. I don't think I will make any Neutrix TRS balanced cables anymore.--Ken

By the way the reference to the nut above is the nut on the back of the connector to tighten the strain relief.

There is a small piece of plastic you have to break off of the internal piece of plastic if the diameter of your cable is of a certain size. Take a look at this page and click on the PDF on the top right called "Assembly Instructions"
NP2X-B - Neutrik
Look to step D where it says "break off"
The diagram shows it best.

That might be why it was too tight, good luck!

Should be easy to do. You'd just have to unscrew the end, break the piece off, and screw it back together. You wouldn't have to de-solder or anything. Give it a try.
