A fairly specific pickup question...

I possibly may soon be changing the bridge pickup in my Warwick Corvette Proline.
I would very much appreciate any pickup reccommendations.
Routing is not an issue, I don't mind having to route out for the new p-ups.
----
Here's the current setup:-Flamed Maple body, wax & oil finish
-2 MEC Gold pickups (single coil j-style in j positions)
-MEC active 18v preamp w/ 2 band EQ and blend knob
----

The maple body gives this bass a nice bright sound, and combined with the Ovangkol neck and Wenge fretboard, the has a very balanced tone with deeeeeeep lows and punchy mids and growly low mids.. the highs sing and sing and sing. It is my ideal bass tone.

With this in mind, heres what I'm looking for:

-Less than $180, preferably around $100
-Will increase overall frequency response, punch, etc,
-Further enhance the top end, basically making it even more musical sounding (if that makes sense...)
-Nice growly, cutting low mids.

So far I'm looking into nordstrand pickups...

If any of you have any suggestions, please feel free.
I'd love to hear any rave reviews, rants, personal favorites, tone descriptions, etc.

Every little bit helps right?

Oh also, I'd appreciate any model numbers; as in,"I suggest the Barto-whatever model x32 single coil blah blah" as opposed to "I like barto-whatevers!"

hehe but those comments would certainly be helpful too i suppose.

Thanks Guys!

don't change the pickups.

the MEC pickups are OK...
it's that PREAMP that needs the changin'.

audere, aguilar (OBP-3), sadowsky, or john east (U-retro)

any of these are capable of giving you more of what you're looking for, IMO.
