fat p/j config.

rRght, just bought a squire p/j special.

Obviously it has the p pickup and the j pickup.

But i want it to sound a bit fatter, not extremely fat but reasonably.

What pickups to people reccomend?

Try wiring the P and J in series.

series vs. parallel

This might help some, basically paralell (what you have now) uses two volume knobs (one for each pickup), to give you different combinations of blending between the two different pickups tones.

Series means that you have one volume knob for both pickups, and get increases output and more lows/booty ect.

Here's an oversimplified diagram, minus the switching and control pots. Seeing the signal path this way ought to make it easier. The pickups are literally either wired one after another (in series with each other) or both positive and negative leads going to the same respective points at the same time (parallel to one another).

+1...can be done for about $10 for the push-pull pot...

did it to my yamaha early last year....no gig goes by where I don't use in that mode at least some.
