Fat Stacks and Glockenklang?

Sign in to disble this ad
My Aguilar OBP-1 has bit the dust so I'm in the market for a new pre. I wasn't unhappy with the Aguilar, but I was a bit underwhelmed.

That being said, I'm really looking hard at the Glockenklang 3 band (4 knob) pre for my LeCompte TRX-5.

Any thoughts on the Nordstrand/Glockenklang combo?

I'd like some input on this also. The Glock is by far my favorite preamp. I have it in 2 of my basses. I am considering this same combo but I am a bit concerned about the low gain of the FatStacks.

A very fine preamp, completely silent and transparent in neutral position.

Can this pre be ran at 18 volts to compensate for the decreased gain?

AGAIN! more volts (9 -> 18) is not equal more volume! only more headroom.

A good friend of mine as big singles and glock and he's very happy with it.

I don't see a problem having a low level out from an instrument, just turn up the gain level on the amp, or mixer, or stomp box…

I was speaking mostly from a headroom perspective. If I were to boost the mids and the signal was a bit weak to begin with, the extra headroom would be nice.

My bass is already routed for a double battery box since the OBP-1 I had was ran at 18v, so I was hoping to at least use it.
