Fattest Sound?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Carvin LB76W ( http://www.carvinguitars.com/catalog...hp?model=lb76w ) and am looking for new pickups to get a bigger sound. Any suggestions on what pickups could give me the fattest sound?

You'll need to be more specific on "fattest sound."

First off, have you tried your bass with different amplifiers, to see if the cause might be there?

Second, have someone else play your bass with a different amp. It's possible your settings are causing your problem.

"fat" can mean "deep, dubby low end", which would get lost in a rock band, or it can mean a compressed, harmonically rich, almost grindy sound, which would sound stupid in a country band.

either way, it's almost more about the rig than the bass.

what are you trying to do that you're not getting?

IMHO and IME, the Fattest tone, but with great mids and amazing clarity, comes from Villex pickups

bass sound meaning "fattest"or "phattest"

Chances are if you can post a clip of who you like, we can figure out what they're using (assuming it's not a concert photo with 30 sound guys).

Genre and Favorite player help greatly.
