Fbass Outboard Preamp

TBer, XavidmanX, posted some photos of NAMM 2009 today for the Fbass forum to see. We were all so busy gawking at the pretty basses that we missed...

The new Fbass Outboard Preamp!

We'll learn more about the new outboard preamp soon I'm sure, but for now I just say this is a great idea that is probably long overdue.

FBass owners have long adored the inboard version of this preamp for how organic and transparent it is. Play the bass in passive mode, flip on the preamp with the controls flat, then do a double take because it is almost indistinguishable on... then boost bass, mids, and treble to taste for a very clean, very pure tone.

I currently have a Sadowsky outboard that I use for a passive bass, a Barker upright. I love the Sadowsky, but I might get the Fbass pre as well and move the Sadowsky over to my 76 Fender Jazz.

Anway, I thought I'd drop a post here so people could be aware the crowded town of outboard preamps just got another reputable gunslinger in town.

I'm very excited to see this new preamp, as the F Bass preamp is probably my favorite pre, period. It's not very sexy or exciting, but it's simple and easy to use, and sounds nothing short of fantastic!

George said he will get me one to review once the prototype stage is complete. I'll check it out and do a video review. It will be available at my site, or on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/fretspot.

I did get to inspect and play through the prototype, and it sounds great. What does it sound like? It sounds like an F Bass preamp! If you love the sound of FBasses, and would like to have other basses have that kind of warmth and versatility, then you will want to check this out...

Wow, Donovan, that sounds great. I bet it would be the perfect compliment to my passive Barker electric upright. I'll watch out for the review.
