I had both and liked both; for equal money I'd choose the Fender.

I'm also interested in this comparison as I have SPB-1's at the moment in a reliced luthier P and don't find they sound anything like my friend's real '64 P.

Thinking of replacing the pickup in mine as well, I'd like to hear from some people who have owned/used both.

Same pickup is going to sound different in different instruments.

Trying both pickups in same instrument might be a more accurate method.
