Fender 62 RI vs 57 RI USA Pups

Is there a big difference in the sound that the 62 and 57 RI USA pups put out? I've seen them both used for good price but im a little confused on which is for me. I'm looking for the classic R&B - Motown sound.

I'd say the 62 reissue would be a better choice for Motown. The 57 is also a good sounding pickup..... It's a little brighter, with more mids.
A Lindy Fralin would do the job too.

this is the first i've heard that they were any different from each other.

You'll find the 62 RI pickup is now called the Original precision bass pickup by Fender. It's the same exact pickup they use in the 62 RI.
The 57 RI pickup has the raised A pole pieces which bring out the mids and highs.
