Fender 62RI pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I want to order a set of pickups for my CIJ 62RI P-bass and I am decided to get the same pickups which are in US 62RI P. These are coming in two packaging (see below). Are the two the same? And are these the pickups which are stock in US reissue P? Thanks. (sorry for large images..)

They are the exact same pickup, just different packaging. I'm pretty sure Fender phased out the 62' reissue pickup a few years back, but the original pickup pictured above is what replaced it and it is the exact same pickup. According to the fender website, the pickup pictured above does not come on the american vintage basses but is OEM on most custom shop pbasses. Its a great pickup tho, you've made a fine choice.

Thank you. However, after reading some rave reviews and clips of nordy NP4 I am a bit uncertain which one to get, but probably for my dense pop-disco-funk band will be better the Fender Original than NP4, because Fender is described as more raw and litle bit middier so it could cut through better.. am I right?

It looks like one has beveled poles and the other doesn't.

Are you certain that your CIJ doesn't already have the US-made vintage pickups? Mine does.

Yes it has something they call "US vintage" pickups, but I believe the Fender Originals are different. The stock CIJ P pups have plastic wire insulation, not cloth like Originals.

Edit: Checked the pickup and it shows the number 048614. I searched TB and in this thread (Help: trying to identify/date some P Bass pickups) the pickup is identified as Fender stock pickup in American Standard Precision Bass, American Deluxe Precision Bass, California P-Bass Special,

Part Number: 0056004000.
Wire: #42 Polysol
Turns: 10,000
Bobbin: Plastic
Magnet: Alnico 5 Level
Polarity: North
DC Resistance: 5.30 K - 5.90 K Ohms (10.5 K Ohms Both Coils)
Inductance: 5.9 Henries (Both Coils)

The "Original" pickup according to Fender website has Inductance 6.4 Henry and Part Number: 0992046000 so they are different.
