Rolle,

Greetings!

After reading your other thread, I would strongly recommend that you call Fender directly regarding the problem.

The people at Fender will be the most knowledgable about that bass' electronics. If they can't help you to fix the problem over the phone, you should mention that you want them to do the repair under the instrument's warranty. They should either be able to fix the problem, or replace your electronics free of charge.

Let me know how it turns out, good luck!

Well, the problem is that the bass is ~5years old and there's no warranty. I have had it to a repair, but they didn't find anything broken(?) I called the store and talked to the guy who sold me this bass in Finland, he didn't have a clue. One thing was sure, no warranty cover in this case.

So, I still have one chance, there's a proff's repair that promised to testrun my bass to see if they could be able to help. So far, no success

My 06 Am Dlx J V, developed a hum. My tech fixed it by
putting Copper foil on the bottom of the front (neck) pickup.
Worked great. I believe he said to make sure the Copper foil
is touching the magnets on the bottom of the pickup.
Hope this helps.

elvis78,

It's interesting that B String recommended putting the copper shielding tape under the pickup. Yesterday, I heard several other people suggesting the same fix for similar problems!

Apparently, most Fender pickups are not internally shielded, so the problem you are having is fairly common.

I would ask the repair facility to do just what B String suggests (making sure the the magnet of the pickup touches the copper shielding tape). Also, I heard that it is good to solder a wire onto the copper and then ground the wire.

If you or the repair shop can't find a place to get the copper tape, you can order it from stewmac.com.

Nice suggestion B String.
