Quick question reguarding the Am Deluxe P. Anyone know what preamp is used in these 18 volt systems? It's my first active bass, and all I know is it sounds killer. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I was just curious. As it's my first, I have nothing to judge it against. I'm quite happy atm, but now it seems there's room to upgrade.

If your new to active, it may sound good, but stock Fender's have a Fender preamp that is best described as average. Its not bad, but there are much better.

Kind of a side issue but does the Amer Deluxe have a passive mode, just in case the batteries die? I have a feeling that it is active only, similar to MM.

If you decide to upgrade your preamp - I may be interested in it.

Nice one. I stumbled onto this bass, never cared for P's before, but these Deluxe P's have a very sweet, and at the same time, massive tone. Lovin' it.

tone pot problem

hi!
I just bought an used Am.Pbass Deluxe , with 18v preamp but the Tone (mid boost/cut) pot seems to be dead. And itīs not "hard" like the other ones.

Any sugestions ? just change the pot or maybe preamp problem?

thanks!!

IDK, probably just the pot, but can you take it in to a guitar tech? I'd want to be sure, that mid knob is the "one", really adds balls.
