Fender American Special Jazz questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know if the Fender American Special series basses use the same pickups as the USA standard models> If not what kind of pickups are in these basses? Ive noticed they use the cheaper tunbers and bridge, but is there anything else?

Fender Hot Rod P bass Pickups replacement

Have any of you fellow bassists who own A Fender Hot Rod Precision Bass ever changed the pickups to seymour duncan quarter pounders, or similar seymour duncans? I am just wondering how they sound in this bass. The original Fender piickups in mine are pretty rusted, and I was thinkin about replaceing them with seymour duncans. Just wondering which ones to get. to make it similar to the original pickups volume and tone. As the original pickups are hot fender pickups as is I believe. any thoughts info greatly appreciated.

Go with SJB/SPB-2 hot. Stay away from the quarter pounders unless you want huge scooped mids and a big hole in your sound
