Fender American Vintage 75 Jazz Bass Modification

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello Luthiers,

I want to purchase a Fender American Vintage 75 Jazz Bass and I was thinking to replace the original pickups on it with the Nordstrand humbuckers and also, replace the bridge with a BadAss II but I am not sure those modifications change the authentic sound of the Fender Vintage 75 vibe?

Or as someone said "I still might throw in the Nordstrand humbuckers later on, but that's just because that would catapult this bass into the superstar rankings."

What are your thoughts about it?

Thanks...!!!

I would say try it, it's your bass and nobody is going to use it but you. If you doubt and you're thinking: if I don't like it I'm going to sell it: don't buy it. Just try the bass first and use it for 2 months and then change stuff if you need. but firstly try before you buy.
cheers, and keep in mind jazz basses are always good for everything, but it's the fingers that make e'm!

If you're not thinking from a value standpoint, by all means modify; just know that it's resale value will be greatly reduced. Enjoy!

No need to change anything. Buy, play, have fun.
