fender battery compartment ideas

I'm looking for some creative ideas for hiding a 9v in fender p bass. Taking the whole pickguard off is a hassle. Anyone try those flip top compartments?

My stingrays have slip out compartments, it makes life soo much easier! (all my ibanez active basses require removing the control plate).

FWIW:

not very creative but skip the onboard, go outboard and forget the battery: don't have to touch the bass, and you can use it with any bass (or not at all), you can A/B it to see what it actually does to your sound, and you can swap pres around if you want.

If you already have the pre-installed then maybe next time. I'm a bit surprised nobody's marketed an adapter/jack setup.
