i just recieved these pickups in the mail. the magnet pole pieces are scrached,chipped, and one pole has a yellow tint to it. does all this really matter... will the bass still sound as great as long as it all works well when installed?

FWIW:

apparently they've been roughed up some and maybe some exposure issues so no way of knowing without installing them.

What do the winding's look like, the leads, any moving parts?, what do they read on a meter? What does the seller have to say?

I'm guessing they aren't new but maybe ebay as is or power seller (which tends to be the same thng actually). Personally I send it back if it's not as described unless it was cheap enough to compensate for any damage assuming proper function - usually it's not cause rarely do I buy beat up stuff except for parts.
