Fender Custom '60s Jazz Bass Pickups: Fit in recent MIM?

Sign in to disble this ad
Do the Fender Custom '60s Jazz Bass fit in the newer Fender MIM Jazzes that have a bigger bridge pickup?

I read that older MIMs have the same size pickups in the neck and bridge position, but that newer MIMs (mine is 2007) take regular pickup sets, with no chiseling.

I'd like to upgrade my pickups, but I don't want to chisel-out any wood. I looked on the Fender site, but it didn't give dimensions.

I don't think that the pickups have the same size... Where do you know that?

The older MIMs used two "bridge sized" pickups which are the longer of the two. AFAIK, the newer MIMs use standard sizes in each position, so they should fit.

I replaced my MIM Jazz pickups with the Custom Shop ones. Mine was a 2001, and I had to widen the bridge cavity - the neck fit alright. They may be different now, though.
